A portion of the trail leading into St Cuthbert’s Mission/Pakuri has broken away, leading to restricted vehicular travel into the village. According to a notice posted on the Village Toshao, Alvoro Simon’s Facebook page, the heavy downpour during the course of Tuesday night caused flooding in some areas of the village as well as three major breakaways in the trail, “making it difficult to enter and exit the village”.
At the time, the notice was posted, the Village Council was on the ground working and was expected to begin works to remedy the situation, and the CDC was notified. Further updates posted at press time yesterday showed the Ministry of Public Works had dispatched a team and works were about to commence. (The photos above show a close-up and aerial view of one of the breakaways.)
