Hardball, Taliban, Cayenne Massive win in Mocha ‘Soft Shoe’ football

Hardball, Taliban, and Cayenne Massive recorded contrasting wins when the sixth edition of the Mocha Village Cup ‘Soft Shoe’ Football Championship continued at the community centre tarmac.

Taliban clipped the Victoria Eagles 3-0. Simeon Hackett commenced the rout with a third-minute strike. He quickly doubled his side’s advantage as he netted a minute later to seal his double. Hackett then completed his hat-trick to seal the eventual outcome in the eighth minute.

Similarly, Hardball crushed Team Cruel 5-1. Selwyn Williams recorded a five-goal haul in the rout, with conversions in the third, fifth, eighth, 14th, and 23rd minutes. For the loser, Tiquan Taylor found the back of the net in the 19th minute.

On the other hand, Cayenne Massive overcame Red Force 2-1. O’Neil Sharp opened the scoring for Cayenne Massive with a sixth-minute strike. However, Sceyon Hope equalised as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 11th minute.

Nevertheless, the contest was decided in the 15th minute, as Sharp made his presence felt once more to complete his brace.

In other results, Family and Five O defeated TMT and Lack Ah Scene via respective walkovers.

The winner of the event will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will walk away with $200,000, $100,000, and $50,000 and the corresponding accolade.

The tournament continues tomorrow at the same venue with another round of matches. At 19:00hrs, Genesis will engage the Victoria Eagles, while Team Cruel will oppose the Street Ballers at 19:45hrs, and Red Force will tackle Make It Happen at 20:30hrs.

In the fourth match, Ballerz Entertainment will match skills with Broad Street at 21:15hrs, while Unruly will face off against TMT at 22:00hrs, and Five O will take aim at Laing Avenue at 22:45hrs.
