Youth Basketball Guyana
The Bishops’ High will lock horns with St. Stanislaus College in the Boy’s U-18 divisional final tomorrow following semifinal wins in the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) ‘Regional Conference Championships’ at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
The Bishops’ High dismissed School of the Nations 30-19. Carmelo Man-Son-Hing netted 12 points and four steals, while Colwyn Stephens contributed eight points and 13 rebounds.
For the loser, Jabari Lovell amassed 10 points and six rebounds, with Levi Stanley the next best scorer with six points.
In the second semifinal encounter, St. Stanislaus College downed President’s College 34-24. Daniel Chisholm recorded 13 points and eight rebounds for the victor, while Brandon McKoy amassed nine points and four points. On the other side, Michael Sam registered nine points and eight rebounds, while Raymond Paul scored five points.
Meanwhile, Queen’s College thumped President’s College 41-6 in their semifinal encounter in Boy’s U-14 division. Jared Boucher tallied 15 points and six rebounds, while Darren Dublin was the next-best scorer with 12 points. Adding seven points and five steals was Anfernee Cummings.
For the loser, Romarion Wolfe recorded six points and as many rebounds. Queen’s College will now oppose the Bishops’ High for the title after the latter defeated St. Rose’s High 28-10 in their semifinal fixtures. Kemal Pickering amassed a double-double of 13 points and 18 rebounds, while Amare Daniels added nine points. On the other side, Dequan Fraser tallied seven points and four rebounds.
In the girl’s division, President’s College mauled Queen’s College 31-3 in the semifinal section. Akeelah Campbell registered eight points and four rebounds, while Junelly Paddy tallied six points and seven steals. Adding five points was Sabrina Ferreira.
In the second semifinal of the division, the Bishops’ High defeated President’s College B by an 11-8 score. Rehaica Romain netted 11 points and four steals. For the loser, Ronaya Grant netted six points. The event will resume tomorrow at the same venue with the respective divisional finals. Queen’s College will oppose the Bishops’ High in the Boy’s U-14 final at 18:00hrs, while President’s College will face off against the Bishops’ High in the Girl’s final at 19:15hrs.
The final match of the evening will pit St. Stanislaus College against the Bishops’ High in the Boy’s U-18 final at 20:30hrs.
