The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) has begun installing fiberglass poles in parts of its network. In a notice to the public, it said that these poles have been erected in alleyways and along dams that are inaccessible to its bucket trucks and other machinery. Thus far, fibreglass poles have been planted in Lamaha Gardens, Diamond, Timehri and Friendship, East Bank Demerara. The notice said that fibreglass poles are known for their durability and ease of assembly and installation. They are also low-maintenance and do not absorb moisture.
