GFF KFC Elite League
Strikes from Curtez Kellman and Simeon Moore on Thursday night helped push Slingerz FC to an easy 3-0 win over Fruta Conquerors as action continued in the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) KFC sponsored Elite League at the National Training Centre, Providence.
Slingerz, one of the front runners for the league title, forced Fruta into conceding an Own Goal (OG) in the 26th minute of the first half after sustained pressure. Fruta Conquerors’ Osafo Jackson was the culprit, putting the ball into the back of his own net to hand Slingerz the 1-0 advantage.
Immediately after, Moore, an ever present threat on the wing, doubled that advantage making it 2-0 to Slingerz.
While the first half did not see any further goals registered, a sublime free kick from Kellman in the 73rd minute clinched the victory for Slingerz.
Kellman who took the free kick just outside the left of the goal area, smashed the ball high into the right corner of the Fruta Conquerors’ net to spark raucous celebrations among the Slingerz fans.
The League continues tonight at the NTC with a double header. At 6:30PM, Buxton will take on Den Amstel in a battle of East versus West while Ann’s Grove will clash with a resurgent Western Tigers at 9PM.
