Commander of Regional Police Division #1, Senior Superintendent Himnauth Sawh, led a team on an outreach initiative at Bamboo Landing, a satellite community within the White Water Village, North West District on June 27th and cautioned residents over alcohol and drug use.

The Commander and team were accompanied by the Village Toshao,  Andrew Cox, and the Community Policing Group (CPG) Chairman,  Aubrey Gonsalves.

A release from the police said that  Sawh highlighted the importance of having the adult and youth population gainfully occupied in activities that promote growth and development within their community.

The release added that he called on the villagers to act responsibly by refraining from the sale and use of alcohol, which he said contributes to social issues such as teenage pregnancy, suicide, and domestic and gender-based violence, among others.

He also urged  against the use of narcotic substances and encouraged school attendance as a means of obtaining quality formal education to champion illiteracy and to capitalise on opportunities for scholarships and better employment.

He took a significant step towards enhancing local security by forming the Bamboo Landing Community Policing Group, which now consists of fifteen members.
