Police in Regional Division #7 hosted a ‘Spelling Bee’ competition at the Bartica Community Center ground between 15:20 and 17:00 hrs on Wednesday.
The competition saw five students from Byderabo Youth Group, ages eight and nine (9) years old, compete for the top spot, a release from the police said.
The Chairperson for the programme was Inspector Bacchus, who is the Community Relations Officer for Regional Police Division #7. The moderator was Zulfikar Hack, and the judges were Mark Ambrose, Linda Sandy (Chief Judge), and Herriann Hall.
The following youths, who demonstrated exceptional spelling skills, were awarded First, Second, and Third places and received various prizes and trophies.

** Third Place: Danile December
The Fourth and Fifth place winners received backpacks with stationery supplies for school.
Among those present at the event were Police Commander for Regional Division #7, Senior Superintendent Dion Moore; the Mayor of Bartica, Anthony Murray; Deputy Commander of Regional Division #7 D. Handy; along with ASP Griffith, Inspector Hunte, and Inspector Crawford. About 50 people were in attendance, including parents, teachers ranks from the Bartica Police Station, and spectators, the release said.
