Colts emerged as the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Men’s U-23 Champion, defeating powerhouse Kwakwani 76-75 on Saturday evening in the final at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Charles Williams led the effort with 23 points. He was supported by the duo of Carmelo Mon-Son-Hing and Shannon Wilson, who assisted with 17 and 14 points, respectively. Chipping in with nine points was Dimitri Rankin.

For the losers, Kelon Phillips and Kadeem Dover recorded 21 and 20 points, respectively. Contributing 10 and eight points were Travis Lewis and Demarcus Adams, respectively.

Colts seized the early advantage as they triumphed in the first period 17-16. They extended their advantage in the second quarter, netting 19 points while restricting Kwakwani to 14 to enter the halftime interval ahead at 36-30.

Kwakwani would respond in the third stanza, outscoring Colts 24-17 to seize control at 54-53 entering the final period. Nonetheless, Colts would seal the win and the championship as they outshot Kwakwani 23-21 in the fourth quarter.

In the third-place playoff, Kobras edged Ravens 56-55. Elijah David top scored with 26 points, while Ronnel Campbell supported with 15 points. Adding seven points was Trevaughn Parris.

On the other side, Alroy Nurse was the main threat with 21 points, while Omar Headley was the next-best scorer with 15 points. Chipping in with eight points was Jonathan Giddings.

Trailing 9-11 at the end of the first quarter, Kobras seized control of the contest in the second stanza, netting 16 points while restricting their foe to 11 to enter the halftime interval ahead at 25-22.

However, Ravens soared ahead in the third stanza, as they outscored Kobras 17-9 to enter the fourth quarter in control at 39-34. Nevertheless, Kobras would secure the victory, as they overcame the deficit by out-hustling Ravens 22-16 in the final period.
