A nineteen-year-old of Hampton Court, Region Two died on Saturday after giving birth to a boy via C-section on Wednesday.
Dead is Lanita Jacobs who passed away after giving birth to the boy at the Suddie Public Hospital. It was the first child for Jacobs. She succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after being transferred there.
According to Lanita’s mother, Vanita Jacobs, her daughter complained of feeling unwell on Wednesday last. She said she was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital and was admitted. At eight months pregnant, she underwent a C-section. The baby is now in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Suddie Neonatal Department.
After enduring complications, Jacobs was transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital, where she passed away on Saturday. She was said to be suffering from dengue.
Family members said that medical professionals informed them she was suffering from dengue and experienced severe bleeding following the C-section. She was transported to Georgetown by ferry. Relatives believe if she was air-dashed when she started to bleed her life might have been saved. Jacobs’ body is at the GPHC mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Relatives said that they were baffled at the sudden death of the teenager. She was a religious person who attended Voice of Faith Miracle Ministry and was described as a very loving individual.
