Women in Energy (WIE) Guyana yesterday announced the results of its Annual General Meeting for the 2024-2025 term and new Board of Directors.
A release from WIE said that the AGM was held on June 30, 2024 and Abbigale Loncke-Watson, President of MBW Energy Support Services Inc., was re-elected Chairwoman and Filisha Duke, Founder and CEO of Sure Gig Inc., elected Vice Chairwoman.
The release stated that Shanae Heber, Field Engineer at SLB, was elected Secretary; Alista Bishop, Corporate Director and Internal Auditor at Caribbean CAGE LLC., re-elected as Treasurer. Mowavia Williams, typist clerk at the Guyana Elections Commission and student at the University of Guyana, was elected Membership Director; Camille Deokie Gorakh, Founder and CEO of Camille’s Academy Inc., joins as Fundraising and Events Director.
Reflecting on the achievements of WIE, Loncke-Watson expressed gratitude to outgoing Board members Michelle A. Nicholas, Founder and CEO of The NICO Consulting, Inc., and Camille Boyle, Business Strategist/Investor at Executive Business Solutions and concluded that their dedicated service and leadership in external affairs, governance, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, programme development, and operational oversight were instrumental in shaping WIE’s success.
According to the release, Loncke-Watson encouraged members to continue advocating for diversity and inclusivity within the energy sector, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and empowerment. WIEG said it looks forward to pioneering new initiatives that promote gender equality and empower women to excel in every facet of the energy industry under Loncke-Watson’s leadership.
