He was identified as Ronaldo Watson, a 25-year-old procurement manager and University of Guyana student who according to police, lived alone in the apartment located in the upper flat of a two-storey apartment building for the past five years.

According to police, Watson was last seen alive on June 25 and according to a female friend, he complained about having the flu with headaches and vomiting. On June 27, Watson’s two aunts, Beverly Watson and Gail Watson, both of whom reside overseas, contacted the female friend and asked her to check on their nephew since they had not heard from him.

At approximately12.30 hrs the next day, the friend, accompanied by other friends, went to check on Watson at his apartment. After calling him for some time without getting a response, she decided to break down the door with the assistance of a contractor who works at the apartment. Upon entering the room, they found the deceased lying motionless in his bedroom. There was vomit on the floor.

The police were summoned and they examined the body for marks of violence, but none were observed.
