Prime Minister Mark Phillips conducted a site visit at the Friendship Wharf Facility on the East Bank of Demerara, today, to inspect two vessels and a bond.

A release from the Prime Minister’s office said that these are crucial components in Guyana’s response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl in CARICOM countries.

The first vessel is scheduled to begin loading on Saturday and depart on Sunday for St Vincent and the Grenadines. The second vessel will begin loading on Tuesday for a Wednesday departure to Grenada.

These shipments will contain essential relief supplies from the Government of Guyana in conjunction with the private sector, coordinated through the Civil Defence Commission under the Prime Minister’s stewardship.

The Prime Minister was joined by Chair of the Private Sector Commission, Komal Singh and Managing Director at AFS Shipping Inc, Abbas Farouk.
