CWI Women’s U-19 Cricket

Following a delay to the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars U-19 Women’s T20 tournament due to the effects of tropical storm Beryl, the new date for the start of the competition has been confirmed for tomorrow.

The Guyanese women will face off with their neighbours Trinidad and Tobago Red Force Divas in the opening encounter from 10:00am at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad.

The Guyana versus Trinidad and Tobago game will be the first of a triple header, with the Guyanese contingent set to wing out for the Twin Islands Republic today. Game two will see familiar foes Barbados and Leeward Islands play each other from 2:30pm while the Windward Islands tackle Jamaica in the final game under lights at 7:00pm.Ahead of the tournament, the Guyanese women endured a highly successful camp at the National Gymnasium, with a concentrated focus on fitness along with key areas of the game during the week-long training period.

All first-round matches will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy Ground, Tarouba. The Guyana Women’s U19 Team reads: Realeanna Grimmond (captain), Naomi Barkoye, Niya Latchman (vice-captain), Tilleya Madramootoo, Trisha Hardat, Laurene Williams, Denelle Lindee, Crystal Durant, Brianna Samaroo, Shonette Belgrave, Tiea Isaacs, Danellie Manns, Tremaine Marks, and Latoya Williams.

On the management side, Clive Grimmond and Tremayne Smartt will serve in the capacities of head coach and manager, respectively.
