National School Basketball Festival
North Georgetown, Berbice High, and Mackenzie High recorded contrasting wins in the Boy’s U-18 division when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG)-coordinated National School Basketball Festival continued on Monday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
North Georgetown squeaked past Queen’s College 30-29. Sean Duncan tallied a double-double of 12 points and as many rebounds, while Jacey Moffatt chipped in with 10 points. For the loser, Allan Patterson recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Tevin Nedd tallied six points and seven rebounds.
On the other hand, Berbice High dismissed Chase’s Academy 42-33. Cayden Pydana tallied 17 points and four rebounds, with Stefan Carter the next best scorer with 11 points and seven rebounds. Adding 10 points and four rebounds as Aberone Collins.
For Chase’s Academy, Anthony Vasconcellos recorded 10 points and four rebounds, while Paul Emmanuel netted eight points. Tallying seven points, seven rebounds, and six steals was Kadeem Beckles.
Similarly, Mackenzie High defeated Diamond Secondary 30-20. Reyhan Backer tallied eight points and 10 rebounds, Owen France supported six points and four rebounds, and Vladimir DaSilva added four points and eight rebounds.
For the loser, Benkhai King netted 20 points and eight rebounds.
Continuing in the same section, YBG Academy dismissed St. John’s College 39-23. Stephan Duke amassed figures of 12 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, while Khalfani McCallister accumulated 12 points and six rebounds. Adding 10 points was Jaden Yarde.
On the other side, Gino Cummings netted seven points, while Osei Brotherson recorded six points and 10 rebounds. Also, Vryman’s Erven bested Christ Church 31-22.
In the Boy’s U-14 section, Queen’s College downed Berbice High 29-19. Darren Dublin amassed 11 points, while Jared Boucher tallied eight points and 10 rebounds. On the other side, Avion Kesney tallied 17 points and five rebounds.
On the other hand, St. Rose’s High crushed YBG Academy 26-8. Brad Cush registered 10 points and four rebounds, while Cayden Marks netted six points and five rebounds, and Malachi Atwell tallied five points and 13 rebounds. For the loser, Jalen Simon scored five points and four rebounds. Likewise, President’s College thumped Skeldon Line Path 19-5. Romarion Wolfe tallied eight points, five rebounds, and five steals, while Dontrell Ross added seven points. For the loser, Joel Sukram netted three points.
