Yesterday’s release of the National Grade Six Assessment results revealed that private educational institutions dominated the top 1 percent of the country’s top performers.
Mae’s Under 12 took the lead, with 21 students securing spots in the top tier. Academy of Excellence followed with 17 students making the cut. The New Guyana School and Success Elementary also performed well, with 15 and 14 students, respectively, achieving top 1 percent status. Notably, the country’s top performer, Alisha Scheller, is a student of Success Elementary.
While public schools had fewer students in the top 1 percent, Leonora Primary School stood out with 9 entries. Among private institutions, Green Acres Primary secured 8 entries, and Marian Academy had 7 entries. Additionally, the public-school Cumberland Primary, located in Berbice, made a significant showing with 5 students reaching the top echelon.
