Berbice High, Mackenzie, PC advance to next round

National School Basketball Festival

Berbice High and Mackenzie recorded wins in the boy’s U-14 division, while President’s College A was victorious in the girl’s segment when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG)-coordinated National School Basketball Festival continued on Wednesday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.

Berbice High thumped Marian Academy 35-16. Avion Kesney led the rout with 25 points, while Carlson Matheson added six. For the loser, Lucas Pinol netted eight points, while Emmanuel Rondon tallied six.

On the other hand, Mackenzie High downed St. Rose’s High 26-18. Shaquan Messiah amassed figures of 16 points, six rebounds, and five steals, while Roquan Cameron added six points and nine rebounds. For the loser, Malachi Atwell tallied six points and as many rebounds.

Meanwhile, President’s College A mauled Marian Academy 74-3. Akeelah Campbell netted 18 points, while Junelly Paddy chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds, Krizel Wells netted 12 points, and Tikisha Van Long and Ronaya Grant added 10 points each.

Continuing in the girl’s division, President’s College B edged the Bishops’ High 13-12. Kenisha Fraser scored five points and had as many rebounds. On the other side, Reshana Romain netted 10 points.
