A 52-year-old Guyanese man who was reported missing in Suriname since June 24, has been found dead. Two suspects were identified and arrested.

According to Waterkant, a Suriname media outlet, the man, Alie Azeam, who had been reported missing in Suriname since June 24, appears to have been killed while a victim of a crime.

Azeam’s body was discovered by the Surinamese police this week. In connection with the investigation, two men have been identified as suspects and are in custody, the Waterkant report said.

The report stated that on June 24, a family member filed a missing person’s report at the Lelydorp police station, after they were unable to contact Azeam.

The case was handed over to the Capital Delicens department, which initiated a thorough investigation. This investigation led to the arrest of two men as suspects and eventually to the discovery of Alie’s body, the report said.

Based on the facts and circumstances, it is clear that Azeam was killed during the commission of a crime.

The investigation is ongoing.
