Anthony Sugrim yesterday appeared before Magistrate Tuanna Hardy at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court where he was found guilty of possession of 92.6 kg of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking. He was sentenced to four years of imprisonment along with a fine of $83,340,000.

CANU/GPF officers conducted an operation in the Crabwood Creek area, Corentyne, Berbice on Friday. During the operation, they observed two males loading bulky parcels onto a boat that was moored at the time.
A CANU release said that upon noticing the presence of the officers, the individuals attempted to flee the scene. One of the suspects was apprehended by officers, while the other managed to escape.
A subsequent search of the said boat revealed several bulky parcels of suspected cannabis.
