Guyana secured an overall second-place finish at the conclusion of the Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Championships, following the bronze medal acquisition by the boy’s team yesterday at the Tortola Sports Club, British Virgin Islands (BVI).
The Guyanese fell short of defending champion Barbados, who retained the overall title.
Guyana captured third place in the boy’s team segment after dismantling the hosts 4-0. On the other hand, the girl’s side finished fifth following a victory over St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Overall, Guyana secured nine individual medals, including golds from Nicholas Verwey (U-19) and Avery Arjoon (U-15). The pair also won the mixed doubles crown. Guyana is slated to stage the Senior CASA Championships from August 17-25.
