(Trinidad Guardian) A Sangre Grande man was killed when he tried to defend his common-law wife from a man who attempted to wine on her at a bar on Friday.
Keron Modeste-Jack, 39, of North Eastern Settlement, was liming at the popular establishment with the 34-year-old woman, from Oropouche Road, Sangre Grande, around 6.30 pm when a man from Bois Bande Village, who was known to the woman, came up and attempted to gyrate on her. She pushed him off and walked away.
Modeste-Jack smashed a glass bottle and confronted the suspect. The two men then got into a fight.
The woman told police she ran off but later found Modeste-Jack bleeding from wounds to his head and back. She took him to the Sangre Grande Hospital where he was treated but died at 10.47 pm.
The suspect, whose hands were injured during the incident, was also taken to hospital.
He was interviewed by the police and remained warded up to yesterday.
