The British election declarations were sharp and transparent

Dear Editor,

Some lessons from the motherland for Vincent Alexander and ‘VA Associates’ (who they?). The 2024 General Election came and went smoothly. Five lessons for you. The counts were smooth and quick. One completed in 90 minutes. All declarations were short sharp and very public. Most of the 650 counts were finished within eight hours of the end of polling. The losing party accepted its fate within six hours of close of polling.

One Prime Minister left office at 10.30 am the next morning, the other assumed office at 11:30. The BBC covered it very well. Check out the highlights on the BBC iPlayer available all over the world even in Guyana. Plenty learning points. Efficient, sharp, clean and transparent. The way to run and report elections however small. Onwards to 2025.

Sincerely,

John ‘Bill Cotton/Reform ‘Mair
