Representing Guyana at the recently concluded Invictus Open No-Gi and Kaizen Open Ne-Waza Championships, respectively, in Suriname, the trio of John Campayne MMA, Phoenix Jiu-Jitsu, and the MMA Academy secured an impressive 16 medals.
In the Invictus Open No-Gi event, John Campayne MMA secured a total of nine medals, of which four were gold.
In the Men +16 – adult white belt (91kg) section, Linden Abraham secured the gold medal, while Katrina Ford captured gold in the Women’s Open section.
Similarly, Romel Singh secured gold in the Men +16 – adult white belt (65kg) division, while Fabio Ivan captured the top spot in the Men +16 – adult black belt (91kg) section.
Meanwhile, Phoenix Jiu-Jitsu and the MMA Academy combined to acquire seven medals at the Kaizen Open Ne-Waza.
In the Women’s Open section, Forde clinched the top spot, while Abraham secured a gold medal in the Men 91kg section, and Akel Barrington captured gold in the Men 65kg pool.
