A Corentyne motorcyclist died  on Sunday after he slammed into a cow along the Nurney Public Road.

Dead is Simeon Munroe, 24, of Lot 30 Ulverston Village.

The accident involved motorcycle CL 8946 which was being ridden  by Monroe and motor car PAB 8899 being driven by a 26 year old of Kildonan Village, Corentyne.

According to information gathered, the motor car was proceeding west on Nurney Public Road, Corentyne, reportedly at a normal rate of speed when the driver alleged that he saw the cow walking across the road. He applied brakes and pulled to the southern side of the road.

However, the motorcycle which was proceeding in the opposite direction, allegedly at a fast rate, without a safety helmet, collided with the  cow and lost control of the motorcycle after which he then struck the rearview view mirror of the car.

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist fell on the road and sustained injuries.

He was picked up by public-spirited citizens in a semi-conscious condition and placed into motorcar PAB 6570 and was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where he was examined and treated by a doctor on duty.

However, about one hour later the driver succumbed while receiving medical attention at the said hospital.

His body is presently lying at Ramoo’s Funeral Home awaiting a Post-Mortem Examination.

A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of motor car #PAB 8899 and a reading of zero was recorded.
