Red Force earned their berth to the semifinal round in the 6th edition of the Mocha Village Cup ‘Soft Shoe’ Football Championship, defeating Frontside in a marathon sudden death penalty shootout last night at the community centre ground.

Locked 1-1 at the end of normal and extra time, Red Force squeaked past Frontside 2-1 after seven rounds of penalty kicks. The winning penalty was converted by goalkeeper Samuel McKenzie.

Prior to the aforesaid conclusion, Orin James netted in the fifth minute for Red Force, while Andrew Bennett equalised in the 12th minute for Frontside. Up to press time, the other three quarterfinal matches were underway.

The winner of the event will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will walk away with $200,000, $100,000, and $50,000 and the corresponding accolade.
