SAGICOR Junior Tennis Championship
– DeNobrega, Fordyce to contest Boy’s U-14 & U-10 final
Samara Siland won the Junior Girl’s Division Two title, while Nathan DeNobrega and Michael Fordyce will contest finals in the Boy’s U-14 and U-10 divisions, respectively, when the SAGICOR Junior Tennis Championship continued yesterday in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T).
Siland defeated Mariah David of T&T 4/2, 4/2 to clinch the title. Melissa Goodman earned the silver medal spot in the division, which was contested in a round-robin format.
Meanwhile, DeNobrega thrashed Jack Brown 6/2, 6/0 to secure his place in the final of the Boy’s U-14 segment, while Fordyce secured his place in the Boy’s U-10 final, defeating Malik Bain of T&T 4/1, 4/2 in the semifinal round.
On the other hand, Rafeeq Prince finished second in the Junior Boy’s Division, losing to Trinidadian Josh Mohammed 1/6, 3/6 in the final. Also, Navindra Arjune went down to Nirav Dougdeen in the semifinal stage of the Boy’s U-16 division, 0/6, 1/6.
In the team section, the pair of DeNobrega and Denney Estava earned their place in the final of the Boy’s U-14 Doubles Division, dismantling the local pair of Justin Duncan and Novak Malcolm 6/2, 6/1.
Similarly, the combination of Denzel Luther and Gerald Scotland brushed aside Josiah Hill and Sebastian Plummer of T&T in straight sets 6/2, 6/0 to earn a place in the semifinal of the Boy’s U-18 division.
Also, the pair of Isabella Granum and Gabriella Jones downed the team of Mia Bullen and Jaeda Dowlat 4/1, 4/2 in the Girl’s U-10 Doubles section.
On the other hand, the team of Arjune and Aaron Subero lost to the T&T pair of Jacob Jacelon and Jaysean Wells 5/7, 3/6 in the quarterfinal round of the Junior Boy’s Doubles Division.
