– De Nobrega & Estava clinch Boy’s U-14 crown

Denzel Luther and Gerald Scotland captured the Boy’s Senior Doubles accolade while Nathan De Nobrega and Denny Estava won the Boy’s U-14 doubles crown when the SAGICOR Junior Tennis Championship concluded yesterday in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T).

The team of Luther and Scotland overcame the pair of Daniel Rahaman and Deron Dumas of T&T 2-1 to capture the crown in the Senior Boy’s Doubles division. The Guyanese combination took the initial lead as they won the first set 6/1.

However, the local pair equalised in the second set as the Guyanese lost 4/6. Nevertheless, the Guyanese secured the win in the third outing via a 10/3 score.

Similarly, the pair of De Nobrega and Estava defeated the local team of Jack Brown and Christopher Khan in the Boy’s U-14 Doubles final. The duo overcame a 0-3 deficit in the first set to win 6/3. They then secured the second stanza by the identical margin following an initial 4/0 advantage to capture the title.

In the Junior Girl’s Doubles segment, the combination of Melissa Goodman and Samara Siland bested Anaya Roberts and Teijha Wellington of T&T 7/5, 6/3. Meanwhile, in the Boy’s U-10 final, Michael Fordyce lost to T&T’s Ethan Primus 4/2, 4/5(3), 10/7.
