A Corriverton taxi driver who was this week busted along the Corentyne highway with his motorcar filled with packages of cannabis which amounted to close to $35m worth was yesterday jailed for three years and eight months and fined after he pled guilty to possession of narcotics.
Naasik Alli, 33, of Lot 1&2 Number 75 Village Corentyne, Berbice, appeared at the Albion Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with possession of 257.15 pounds of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Alli who appeared before Magistrate Tuanna Hardy yesterday pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to three years, eight months in prison and was fined $104, 977, 620.
