Severe thunderstorms on Thursday night and heavy showers early yesterday morning forced the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) to abandon their U17 Inter-County match between Essequibo and the GCB Select XI which was slated for the Queen’s College Ground.
As a direct consequence of the rain as well, the QC venue is currently waterlogged and as such, only one match, Berbice versus GCB Select XI will be played today.
While a representative of GCB told this newspaper that they want as much cricket to be played as possible, it is unclear whether the affected matches will be played on a later date or if the points would be split between teams.
