A quick reaction team of the GDF Coast Guard rendered timely help to a disabled small boat 12 nautical miles off the Essequibo River.

On Thursday, July 11th, at approximately 1730 hours, the GDF Coast Guard received information about a disabled small boat and crew in the Demerara River. The boat left the Harbour Bridge to deliver supplies to MV PROSPERITY 1, which was anchored 12 NM offshore the Demerara River Mouth, a release yesterday from the GDF said.

The GDF Coast Guard conducted two separate searches, and the disabled vessel, with three crew members on board, was located around 2300 hours, approximately twelve nautical miles off the Essequibo, about ten miles away from its intended target. The disabled vessel was subsequently towed back to the GDF Coast Guard headquarters.
