CWI Men’s U-19 2-Day Cricket
Guyana got off to another dismal start in their second encounter of the CWI Rising Stars 2-Day U-19 Men’s Championship, as they were bowled out for 142 inside 49 overs before the Windward Islands recorded 109/4 (39 overs) to assert their dominance on day one at Sion Hill in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
After winning the toss and inserting Guyana to bat, the Windward’s bowling attack made light work of the Guyanese.
Jonathan Van Lange was once again a standout with the bag, eking out a 60-ball 25 to help Guyana to 142 all out.
Aside from Van Lange, only opener Rampertab Ramnauth (22), skipper Mavindra Dindyal (17), and top-scorer Thaddeus Lovell (34) ensured that the Guyanese got past 100.
Kirsten Murray returned 4-25 from his 9.1 overs to lead the Windwards charge, with Tarriqie Edward (2-36) and Kirt Murray (2-17) helping to bundle the Guyanese out.
By stumps, the Windwards had further asserted their dominance in the game, with Devonie Joseph (30) and Steven Abraham Jr. (27) leading the batting effort thus far.
When play resumes today, the Windwards are just 33 runs adrift of Guyana’s total with six wickets intact.
