Tigers claw past Santos in KFC Elite League

Western Tigers overcame Santos by a 3-2 score-line when the KFC Elite League resumed on Saturday evening at the National Training Centre, Providence, East Bank Demerara.

Rondell Peters opened the scoring for the Western Tigers unit via a 14th-minute strike. However, the lead proved to be short-lived as Santos equalised one minute later in the form of Bevney McGarrell. Western Tigers would restore their one goal advantage on the cusp of halftime as Michael Oie netted in the 45th minute.

Upon the resumption, the Tigers increased their advantage as Randolph Wagner found the back of the net in the 68th minute. Ryan Dowding recorded what proved to be a consolation goal for Santos as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 83rd minute.

With the win, the Western Tigers climbed to 21 points and remain in fifth place. On the other hand, Santos remained at 24 points in the fourth position.
