The Guyana women’s team, which triumphed at the concluded Cricket West Indies (CWI) U-19 T20 Championship, was given a hero’s welcome following their return to local shores yesterday.

Minister of Public Service Sonia Parag, who spoke on behalf of the government, stated, “We are proud of you, and on behalf of the government and Minister of Sports Charles Ramson Jr, I’m honoured to welcome a team of young female players from a country beyond proud of you.”

She further said, “You’ve done Guyanese immensely proud; I wish you more success. As a female minister, I want to say that, as women you are an absolute inspiration to our younger generation of women in our country.”

Meanwhile, GCB President Bissoondyal Singh congratulated the team on their historic achievement, noting that this achievement is a significant milestone for the development of the women’s game and that the sport has a bright future.
