Yesterday at approximately 16:50 hrs, an intelligence-led operation was carried out by ranks from Special Branch and Regional Police Division 4B, during which a 29-year-old Police Constable was arrested with 9.60 kilograms of Narcotics.

One to appear in court over Toucan robbery

Commander for Region 4 ‘A, Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean, says one person was charged and is expected to appear in court shortly for the multi-million-dollar robbery of the manager of Toucan Distributors Limited, in the compound of GBTI, Head of the GPF’s Corporate Communications Unit, Mark Ramotar, stated that investigators also recovered a portion of the stolen money.

Dear Editor, In my view, if Donald Trump were to be reelected as President of the United States of America, it would be the worst possible decision ever made by the American voters, both for the USA and for the world, but, given the fact that he was targeted for assassination, which is totally and absolutely unacceptable, especially in a country which prides itself on being the bastion of democracy in the world, and came within a centimeter of being killed, I consider that the Harris cartoon on the subject of the assassination is in very bad taste and should not have been published by the Stabroek News.

Dear Editor, I, Joel Bhagwandin, SphereX’ s Director, had set out a strict conditionality to client, EMGL, prior to accepting a contract, establishing unequivocally at the outset that the firm will not advance and/or advocate for any position that would be favourable exclusively to EMGL and unfavourable to the Government of Guyana—and more so against the national interest.

Guyana, Peru to intensify co-operation

Guyana and Peru have pledged to expand  co-operation in the areas of energy, food security and climate change, a statement yesterday from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.  Recently, Foreign Secretary Robert Persaud met with the Peruvian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Peter Camino in Lima where they broached specific areas of ties between the two countries.  The statement said that Peru plans to expand its framework of co-operation with Guyana in the mining, agriculture, tourism, and construction sectors among others, through direct investment and technical assistance initiatives.
