Commander for Region 4 ‘A, Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean, says one person was charged and is expected to appear in court shortly for the multi-million-dollar robbery of the manager of Toucan Distributors Limited, in the compound of GBTI,
Head of the GPF’s Corporate Communications Unit, Mark Ramotar, stated that investigators also recovered a portion of the stolen money. Police are still to arrest several other persons in connection with the robbery.
On July 3, a 65-year-old manager of Toucan Distributors Limited was robbed of $10 million by two men dressed in police uniforms and armed with pistols. The incident occurred at about 21.50 hours, at the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) compound on Young Street, in Kingston, Georgetown.
According to police, the suspects are said to be two identifiable males fully dressed in police blue and black uniforms, both armed with pistols.
