Soldier out of hospital after wounded in home invasion

Azim Khan, the 22-year-old Guyana Defence Force (GDF) private who was shot in a home invasion at his Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara residence on May 6  has been discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital.

This was confirmed by his brother, Ameir Hussain who told Stabroek News that Khan is out of danger.

In relation to the third suspect involved in the home invasion, his brother said that police are still searching for the person.

So far, two persons have been charged with the  attempted murder of the soldier:  Dexter McDonald called ‘Labba’, a 31-year-old labourer of Lot 73 Buxton Middle Walk, East Coast Demerara and alleged serial robber, Terry Thomas 21, from Annandale and Achiwuib in Region Nine.

The third suspect is still on the run.

Khan was left in a critical condition after he was shot by one of three masked men who invaded his Mon Repos residence on  Monday, May 6, as he was drinking with a relative and neighbour.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit of the GPH after being shot twice. The first bullet entered his chest and exited his back, while the second bullet grazed his back.
