Yesterday, a team led by Prime Minister Mark Phillips, visited the subdivision of Moruca in the north west to launch the revolutionary “Starlink” initiative.
A release from the Prime Minister’s office said that this project is set to provide underserved hinterland communities with free high-speed internet access, aligning with the government’s efforts to bridge the digital divide.
With this launch, 138 communities in Region One are now connected to the internet, the release said.
The rollout promises transformative changes: connectivity to power the GOAL scholarship offerings, life-saving telemedicine services, and seamless e-government services, eliminating the need for residents to travel to the city.
The release said that it also promises overall improved standards of living as Guyana harnesses the power of technology to diversify its economy and empower its citizens.
