Red Bull Timehri and Silver Hill were crowned male and female champions, respectively, when the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) Timehri, Soesdyke, Highway Cluster 5-over cricket competition culminated on Sunday. Staged at the Latchman Sand Road ground, Soesdyke, Red Bull Timehri defeated Laluni by 24 runs in the final of the male tapeball competition. Redbull Timehri batted first after the game was reduced to two overs due to rain and made 32 without loss. Ronaldo Blair top scored with 17 runs, while Andre Barrow supported with 14. In reply, Laluni stuttered to 8-3. Clairance Paddy snared 2-4 while Ronaldo Blair recorded 1-4. Meanwhile, Silver Hill beat Yarrowkabra by 10 wickets in the female softball final. Yarrowkabra took the first strike and managed 8-2 in 2 overs. Silver Hill then stormed to victory as they recorded 9-0 in the first over. Erika Ashby scored eight runs.
In the earlier men’s semifinal section, Red Bull Timehri bested St. Cuthbert’s Mission by nine runs. Batting first, Redbull Timehri posted 41-0 in their allotted two overs, with Blair smashing 32 runs. In reply, St. Cuthbert’s Mission ended 32-1 in their allotment. David Francis top scored with 26.
