United defeats Panthers in ‘Timehri Derby’

Timehri United defeated fierce rival Timehri Panthers by a 2-1 score-line when the East Bank Demerara Senior Men’s League continued at the National Training Centre, Providence.

Timehri United would strike first in the contest, as Tyrel Khan tallied the only conversion of a bruising first half with a 33rd minute effort. Upon the resumption, Akeem James would double their lead, as he made his presence felt in the 77th minute.

Panthers would eventually record a consolation goal in the form of Omar Sam, who netted in the 90th+1 minute.

Meanwhile, Soesdyke Falcons soared past Herstelling Raiders 1-0. Kelcey Benson recorded the only conversion of the contest, as he found the back of the net in the 31st minute.

The competition continues on Sunday at the same venue

with another round of matches. The other competing teams are: Circuitville, Diamond United, Swan, Friendship, Pakuri, and Agricola. At the conclusion of the group stage, the top two teams from each section will advance to the semifinal round, which will eventually decide the winner of the tournament.
