Michael Richmond, a police officer, appeared yesterday before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Diamond/Grove Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
It was alleged that on Monday July 15, at Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara, he had in his possession 9.6 kilogrammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Richmond pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In a bail application on his behalf, his lawyer, attorney-at-law Gordon Gilhuys, told the court that his client was willing to subject himself to any conditions imposed by the court and also submit all of his travel documents. Gilhuys also assured the magistrate that his client was not a danger to the public.
