President Irfaan Ali on Friday held a meeting with the founder of Space X and Tesla, tech entrepreneur, Elon Musk virtually from the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.
A brief release from the Office of the President said that discussions focused on the advancing of Guyana’s economy, particularly in the areas of innovation and technology, and the opportunities that exist in the respective sectors. Tesla is a major player in the electric vehicle industry. The release said that Musk congratulated the President on the “impressive rate of progress and development in Guyana”. He said that his team will examine any potential opportunities. Musk recently acquired X Corp, formerly Twitter.
Director of Presidential Affairs, Marcia Nadir-Sharma was also at the meeting.
