Mocha Village Cup Football
Stabroek Ballers was crowned the Mocha Village Cup ‘Soft Shoe’ Football Champion, defeating home-side Red Force by a 2-1 score on Saturday evening at the community centre ground.
Mark Jhalu opened the scoring for Stabroek Ballers as he found the back of the net in the 12th minute. Red Force responded in the form of eventual tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) Sceyon Hope, who scored in the 17th minute to level proceedings.
However, the contest was ultimately decided by Jhalu, who etched his name on the score-sheet in the 48th minute. With the win, the Stabroek Ballers walked away with $400,000 and the championship trophy. On the other hand, the loser pocketed $200,000 and the corresponding accolade.
Meanwhile, Family bested Ballerz Empire 2-0 in the third-place playoff. Due to the outcome, Family received $100,000 and the third-place award, while the loser collected $50,000 and the corresponding trophy.
