Thirty-two-year-old Jeremy Gordon Smith, an IT technician, appeared yesterday before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court charged with two offences of publishing obscene videos of his ex-girlfriend and was released on $150,000 bail.

The first charge read to the defendant was illegal possession of data and it was alleged that between March 11 2023 and May 6 2023 at Lot 139 Silverballi Road, Meadowbrook he intentionally acquired electronic data of the woman including videos of an obscene nature to intentionally cause shame.

It was also alleged that on May 27 2024 and July 16 2024 at the same address he used a computer system to publish videos of the woman to cause her distress.

Gordon pleaded not guilty to both charges and the prosecution had no objections to bail. Smith was represented by attorney-at- law Eusi Anderson, who told the court that his client currently has an active protection order against the woman and that he is being portrayed in an unfair light on social media and other public domains.

He also told the court that his client suffers from mental and behavioural health issues.

As a result of no objections by the prosecution, Smith was placed on $75,000 bail on each charge totalling $150,000 with reporting conditions.

The matter was adjourned to August 23 2024.
