FIDE Master (FM) Anthony Drayton emerged victorious, capturing the Open Blitz title at the recently held Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) Rapid and Blitz tournament at School of the Nations.

On Saturday last, the GCF, in collaboration with the Gambit Group, hosted over 50 players at a special chess event to mark the celebration of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) centenary anniversary.

The GCF’s Rapid and Blitz tournament was also a part of the official attempt for FIDE to gain entry into the Guinness World Records for the most chess games played in 24 hours. That attempt was successful with FIDE members amassing 5.4 million games played in 24 hours on that day.
