(Reuters) – USA Cricket and Cricket Chile have been formally put on notice for their non-compliance with the International Cricket Council’s membership criteria, the sport’s governing body said yesterday.
The ICC said that neither member was considered to have a “fit for purpose detailed governance and administrative structure and systems” in place, less than a month after the United States co-hosted the Twenty20 World Cup with the West Indies.
The U.S. and Chile have 12 months to rectify their non-compliance.
A review into the delivery of the T20 World Cup will also be conducted and overseen by directors Roger Twose, Lawson Naidoo and Imran Khwaja.
After its Annual Conference in Colombo, the ICC added that the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2030 will be expanded from 12 to 16 teams.
