Continental Agencies Limited, in collaboration with Parle Products, officially introduced the well-known Indian brand to the Guyanese market yesterday.
During the presentation event, Chief Marketing Officer of Continental Agencies, Mohan Harnanan, expressed his enthusiasm in bringing Parle’s rich heritage from India to the shelves of supermarkets across Guyana.
He posited that this collaboration marks a significant milestone in enhancing the variety of international products available to Guyanese consumers.
Harnanan highlighted that Parle, a brand rooted in Mumbai, India, offers an extensive range of biscuits, sweets, and various other confections. He recounted the moment when SK Puri, the founder of Continental Agencies, discovered Parle. Recognizing its potential and the gap it could fill in the Guyanese market, Puri immediately advocated for a partnership. His efforts paid off swiftly, and within just six weeks of securing the initial contact, the inaugural shipment of Parle products arrived in Guyana.
The event was also graced with the presence of First Secretary of the Indian High Commission, Mukesh Kaushik, who shared his excitement about Parle becoming a household name in Guyana. He nostalgically recalled his personal connection with the brand, which he said holds a special place in many Indian homes. Kaushik expressed hope for the establishment of a Parle factory in Guyana, envisioning it as a step towards creating a local production line. He also assured that the Indian High Commission’s office is ready to help facilitate trade and provide any other assistance to ensure a great relationship with Guyana.
Parle products are expected to be available on store shelves soon.
