-T&T emerge as overall champion

Although surrendering the overall title to Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana ended the 4th International Karate Daigaku (IKD) World Cup with gold medal performances in the teams Kata, Bunkai, Kumite, and Enbu, respectively, at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

The Guyanese combination of Malcolm Francis, Jason Jerrick, and Keith Beaton, who emanated from the YMCA Dojo, secured the top spot in the Kata, Bunkai, Kumite, and Enbu in the men’s 40-49 team section.

Individually, Francis walked away with gold in the Kumite section and bronze in the Kata segment, with Beaton securing a bronze in the latter category.
