-offers compensation in court

Forty-five-year-old Anthony Dazzell appeared yesterday before acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with malicious damage to property and released on self-bail.

It was alleged that on July 20, at Vlissengen Road, Georgetown, he unlawfully damaged an iPhone 15 valued at $215,000, belonging to Onifa Nedd.

Dazzell pled guilty with an explanation, telling the Magistrate that he would pay for the phone in installments. He stated that he had $140,000 in cash to present to Nedd in court and would pay the remainder at a later date.

The Magistrate asked Nedd if she was willing to accept this arrangement, and she agreed. As a result, Dazzell handed over the sum in court, and the remaining amount will be paid by the next court date.

The matter was adjourned to August for the remainder of the payment.
