Guyana recorded their second consecutive win to remain perfect in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Menโ€™s U-19 Super50 Championship, as they thrashed the Leeward Islands by 122 runs yesterday at the Park Hill ground in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Mavendra Dindyal was once again the architect of the victory, as he snared an eye-catching 7-24 in four overs, which was his second five-wicket haul following figures of 5-24 on Tuesday against Jamaica. His dominance was highlighted in the 23rd over as he snared four wickets, inclusive of a hat-trick, to derail the Leeward Islands chase as they plummeted from 85/3 to 91/7.

Jewel Andrew was his first wicket in the over as he was caught on the boundary for 19. Nathan Edwards fell on the next delivery as he was caught in the slip cordon for a first ball duck. The hat-trick was then sealed as Israel Morton was caught at short cover. Matthew Miller was his fourth victim, as he was also caught at short cover without scoring.

In pursuit of an imposing target of 250, the Leeward Islands were skittled for 127. Tโ€™yanick Honore battled to a gritty 56, with Devanand Singh the next best scorer with 20 runs. Jonathan Van Lange supported the inspired bowling effort with figures of 2-19.

Prior to the Dindyal demolition, Guyana recorded 249/5 in their allotment. Van Lange led the way with 77, while Rampertab Ramnauth and Dindyal were the next best scorers with 41 and 39 runs, respectively. Adding 23 runs was Riyad Latiff.

For the bowlers, Matthew Miller and Curdel Cooke recorded figures of 3-46 and 2-25, respectively.

Over at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex, Barbados defeated Trinidad and Tobago by three wickets. Batting first, Trinidad and Tobago was dismissed for 161 in 47.3 overs. Andrew Rambarran top scored with 69, while Joshua Davis was the next best scorer with 26 runs.

Saurav Worrell was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-23. In reply, the Barbadians finished on 162/7 in 43.2 overs. Joshua Morris and Nathan Sealy anchored the successful batting effort with 45 and 41 runs, respectively. On the bowling end, Aneal Rooplall snared 3-24.

Similarly, Jamaica bested the Windward Islands by three wickets at the Cumberland facility. Batting first, the Windward Islands were bundled out for 96 in 28.2 overs. Theo Edwards scored with 27 runs, while Steven Abraham Jr. chipped in with 22.

The batting collapse was engineered by Tamarie Redwood, who tallied 5-18 from eight overs. Supporting with figures of 2-24 and 2-32, respectively, were Deshawn James and Michael Clarke.

In response, the Jamaicans overhauled the total in 20.3 overs as they ended on 98/7. The tournament continues tomorrow with another round of matches. Guyana is slated to face off against Trinidad and Tobago.
