CWI Men’s U-19 Super50 Cricket
Guyana recorded their second consecutive win to remain perfect in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Men’s U-19 Super50 Championship, as they thrashed the Leeward Islands by 122 runs yesterday at the Park Hill ground in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Mavendra Dindyal was once again the architect of the victory, as he snared an eye-catching 7-24 in four overs, which was his second five-wicket haul following figures of 5-24 on Tuesday against Jamaica. His dominance was highlighted in the 23rd over as he snared four wickets, inclusive of a hat-trick, to derail the Leeward Islands chase as they plummeted from 85/3 to 91/7.
Jewel Andrew was his first wicket in the over as he was caught on the boundary for 19. Nathan Edwards fell on the next delivery as he was caught in the slip cordon for a first ball duck. The hat-trick was then sealed as Israel Morton was caught at short cover. Matthew Miller was his fourth victim, as he was also caught at short cover without scoring.
