Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha and team yesterday commissioned the $565.3 million Greenwich Park Pump Station, Region 3.

A release from the Ministry of Agriculture said that the Greenwich Park area encompasses over 4,000 acres of rice cultivation. Mustapha highlighted that the pump station features two 100 cusec pumps designed to drain 4.9 inches of water within 24 hours.

The contract was signed since November 2nd 2021 raising questions as to why it has taken so long. When the contract was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture it was pegged at $597,851,578. It is unclear if any penalties were applied. The contract was awarded to Roopan Ramotar Investments.
